The area in which the city finds itself today was predominantly used for agriculture especially during the mid 20th century when orchards filled the land. Originally people were drawn to settle in this area by the impressive Santa Cruz Mountains in the backdrop and uncapped potential the city had with the railroad being installed, being a major stop on the San Jose San Francisco run.
